In this article, we are going to explain all steps to Deploy NSX-T Manager & Add Compute Manager,<\/span><\/p>\n

I would also recommend referring the VMware Product Interoperability Matrices (custom link\u00a0here<\/a>)\u00a0to make sure your existing product versions are supported with the NSX-T version you are deploying.<\/span><\/p>\n

Firstly, create all records in your DNS server for the three NSX-T Manager nodes we will be deploying and one for the virtual IP. I have created the following, relevant to my environment:<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Log on to the vCenter -> Click \u201c Cluster or ESXI or Folder \u201d -> Right Click (where you would like to deploy the NSX-T Manager) -> Click \u201cDeploy OVF Template\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

2. Either specify the URL or choose the NSX-T Manager\u2019s ova file, and click \u201cNext\u201d:<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Specify the \u201cname\u201d of the virtual machine, click \u201cNext\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

4. Select the compute resource i.e. the cluster, resource pool or the host, check compatibility has succeeded and then click \u201cNext\u201d:<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Review Details, and click \u201cNext\u201d:<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

6. Select the deployment configuration size as appropriate and click Next:<\/span>
\nNote:<\/strong> For production only Small, medium and large size are supported,<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

7. Select the datastore and appropriate disk format and storage policy. After the compatibility checks are succeeded, click Next:<\/span><\/p>\n

8. Select the appropriate destination network i.e. Port Group and IP Protocol, click Next:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

9. Specify the root, admin and audit account\u2019s password and scroll down:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

10. Specify the Hostname, role-name and networking details and scroll down:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

11. Specify the DNS details, NTP and whether you would require SSH to be enabled on the NSX-T Manager, click Next:<\/span><\/p>\n

12. Review the details and click Finish:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

After all other services have started successfully, type \u201cexit\u201d command to logout.\u00a0<\/span>
\nYou should now be able to visit the NSX-T Manager UI login page via the URL \u201chttps:\/\/<FQDN or IP>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

This concludes this step of deploying the first node of NSX-T manager successfully.<\/span><\/p>\n

A compute manager in this case is a VMware vCenter Server. It hosts centralised application that manages multiple ESXi Hosts and VMs from a single glass of pane.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the vCenter holds all the information centrally available, NSX-T Data Center polls all the compute managers to find out the changes, such as the addition or removal of hosts or VMs and updates its inventory accordingly.<\/span><\/p>\n

13. Logon to the NSX-T Manager UI https:\/\/ via admin credentials.<\/span><\/p>\n

14. Click -> System -> Fabric -> Compute Managers -> Add:<\/span><\/p>\n

15. Specify the compute manager\u2019s name, description, FQDN or IP, credentials and click the ADD button:<\/span><\/p>\n

You will receive a warning for the thumbprint which can be ignored, click ADD:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

16. NSX-T Manager will show a message briefly that the \u201ccompute manager\u201d was successfully created:<\/span><\/p>\n

Add any other vCenter Servers in your environment (as necessary) and confirm the \u201cRegistration\u201d and \u201cConnection Status\u201d as depicted in the image below:<\/span><\/p>\n

This concludes this step of adding a compute manager successfully.<\/span><\/p>\n
